Welcome to ELEVATE ACADEMY, based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. A school for children of all ages from preschool to professional standard. We provide expert tuition in Dance and Theatre Arts including Ballet, Tap, Modern, Acrobatic skills, Musical Theatre and Drama. Children have the opportunity to take part in shows and compete in dance festivals they are encouraged to do examinations though this is not compulsory. Dance lessons help develop co-ordination, rhythm, discipline, confidence and social skills. Our aim is for the children to reach their full potential and to have as much fun and enjoyment along the way! Whether wanting to dance as a hobby for fitness or as a career everyone is welcome. ‘I believe dance is for everyone regardless of age or ability’

You will find Elevate Academy located in the heart of Intake at 51 Montrose Avenue.

We have our very own purpose built studio which we opened the doors to in May of 2016 beginning a whole new chapter for our school which was established in 2009.

We offer a diverse and exciting programme of Dance and Theatre arts subjects.

Our students may choose from multiple classes in various dance styles, learning skills, discipline, leadership and increasing self confidence in a friendly yet professional environment.

PRINCIPAL LISA MARIE Tetley (rad rts, idta) Lisa was born in Doncaster South Yorkshire and began to dance aged 4 at The Doreen Ladley School of Dance and Theatre Arts. She was accepted as a Junior Associate at The Royal Ballet School. Aged ten she gained a place at The Yorkshire Ballet Scholarship Centre, where she was awarded six consecutive years and was tutored by Miss Louise Browne OBE. She held the title of The English Ballet Champion, amongst many other regional Championship titles, and was awarded the 10th annual Markova Scholarship and The Friends of Dance Scholarship. Lisa is a Diploma graduate from the Central School of Ballet in London and holds Registered Teacher Status with the Royal Academy of Dance and is a fully qualified teacher with the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) She holds an Anatomy and Physiology Diploma and has an enhanced CRB disclosure certificate. Lisa has studied many styles of dance around the World including The Tango in Buenos Aires Argentina with the great Tango Masters, and Flamenco dance in Spain with Gabriel Sanchez. She began her professional career as a dancer and has completed many contracts worldwide. Seven years of which were onboard The Mediterranean Shipping Cruises Company in the position of Dance Captain, Professional Singer and Dancer. She moved back to the UK and began working as a Choreographer and taught Freelance within other schools prior to opening up her own dance School.

ANN TAP TEACHER Ann began to dance at 6 years of age. She trained locally at Betty Platt's Dance School and continued her training at Aida Sutton's School. Aged 11 she began to study the piano. Ann's love of dance and music lead her on to play the piano for many local schools whilst still a student. She was very successful and won many awards and Tap Championships. She qualified as a dance teacher in B.A.T.D and I.D.T.A and began to teach tap in and around Doncaster before opening up her own dance School Bradley and Carter School of Dancing. The School was very successful and ran for 12 years but following the death of Ann's first husband she closed her School. Following this she taught Tap at Doreen Ladley's Dance School for a further 12 years. Miss Ann joined our school and became our resident Tap teacher ....We are delighted to have her, she is a much loved and valued member of the team!!

BALLET Elevate Academy brings to you a magical World of Ballet, Dance and Music. We begin our journey at Pre School level and our classes and training continues to a Professional standard. Whether dancing for pleasure or for the more serious minded individual. This style of expressive movement has something to offer for everyone. Ballet today differs greatly from its origins. The term ballet was originally applied to Renaissance dances of the Italian court. Though ballet is often considered French, the first ballets were performed in Italy. It has been influential as a form of dance globally and is taught in ballet schools around the world.

TAP Tap is the most accessible dance style of all, simply requiring a good sense of rhythm and musicality. It is a great way to have fun and keep fit for young and old alike. Tap has many ancestors. It is said to be a mix of many forms of dance including the English clog dance, Irish dancing, Flamenco dance and African dance. Tap continued to evolve and famous dancers made tap popular such as Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, and Shirley Temple. Over the years it has continued to develop and can be seen in shows such as Tap Dogs, Billy Elliot and Stomp with a Modern twist.

MODERN JAZZ Modern Jazz is a fun, high energy class where dancers will focus on the development of style, while learning the steps and techniques of turns and jumps, through progressions, combinations and dance routines. Classes enhance flexibility, strength and stamina.

Contemporary dance is an expressive form of dance that combines elements from several dance styles including modern, jazz, lyrical and ballet.

It was developed during the mid twentieth century and has since grown to become one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world.

ACRO Acro is a blend of acrobatics and gymnastics. Acro is great for improving a dancer’s strength, flexibility, endurance and agility. Students will learn many tricks, including tumbling skills, contortion and balances. Our classes are fun, challenging, and a great way to meet new friends! We have various classes to suit all abilities from beginner to advanced level.

MUSICAL THEATRE Musical Theatre is a combination of dialogue, acting, dancing and singing. There is an increasing demand for triple threat performers who can not only dance, act but sing!! These classes help develop a love of music and theatre. Students learn to focus and have self-control, whilst working as part of a team.

COMPETITIONS Many of our students enjoy competing at dance festivals, though it is not compulsory. Competitions build confidence and encourage team spirit! Competitive dancers must be physically fit because even short dances can be physically demanding. Dancers train to maintain and improve their technique, strength and flexibility. Competitive dancing is typically a year-round activity: dancers attend classes during competition season, to refine their competitive routines, and during off-season to prepare for the next upcoming competition season.

EXAMS Dance exams are a way for us to provide quality dance instruction to all of our students. An Internationally recognized syllabus helps us to ensure that an excellent standard is maintained throughout the school and that the students are receiving a well rounded program. Students benefit by having the goal of an exam to keep them motivated, but also by learning that discipline, dedication and hard work is required to achieve the standards. Not only is the feedback from the highly qualified examiners beneficial to the students, it also provides the teachers and parents with an indication of the students progress and the school with feedback that is used to improve our teaching techniques and methods. We feel that dance exams provide a positive learning experience and give the students a sense of accomplishment. We have 100% pass rate in all Exams.

SHOWs Every Christmas we hold our own showcase, and throughout the year we dance at many events and various Charity performances.

CHARITY We have raised £4982.38 for various charities so far. We are committed to making a difference and we look forwards to supporting many other good causes over the years
